 Rating: - Got the job doneI bought this scanner to scan family photos. It got the job done, but as others have mentioned the scanning speed is very slow and noisey. I didn't have any problems hooking up the scanner or installing the software. I scanned about 40 photos, most all at 600 DPI. (The higher the DPI the higher the quality, but also the longer it takes to scan.) Once the software is on your computer - easy - all you do is plug the scanner in to the computer when you need it. Otherwise it stores neatly under the couch. This scanner does a very good job. I'm a writer, self-publisher and I now hand weave small tapestries to use for the image on my book covers - scan them and upload the file. I don't have to use a mass produced cover, and I don't have to pay a designer. Win - Win.
